Is this the biggest academic competition in Nigeria?
Secondary school students of private and public schools in Nigeria have been invited to register for the InterSwitch SPAK National Science Competition 2018. Please note that this competition is only open to SS2 (Year 11) students between 14-17 years.
The goal of the competition is to arouse and sustain interest in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in Nigerian high schools and even across Africa.

The competition is divided into two stages -
Round 1
Registered students are to appear at nearby centers on time and with their school uniforms to write the national qualifying exam organized by NECO on Saturday, 21st April 2018.
This exam is based on Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics consisting of 100 objective questions with 25 from each subject.
Results for this stage will be made available to students through the online platform on 21st May 2018
Round 2
This stage will feature 81 of the best students (with highest scores) who sat for the national qualifying exam and will be televised on prominent TV stages in Nigeria and beyond. The best three students from each of the 36 states + Federal capital territory will also be recognized.
3 of the best students from this TV Quiz competition will be crowned champions and receive the grand prizes.
All students who get to this stage of the competition will receive a certificate of participation and educational grant.

How To Register For InterSwitch SPAK National Science Competition
- Log on to Interswitchspak.com to register. It is absolutely free but compulsory to register online!
- To increase their chances of qualifying for the next round, Schools are required to register six of their best science students (SS2)
- For mixed public or private schools, at least two female students should make up the number of six enrolled students.
- Registration closes 15th April 2018
- After registration, students are to get to the closest examination centers to sit for the exam.

Additional Information About Interswitch SPAK National Science Competition
- Parents are not to register their child but can encourage them to register through their school.\
- The national qualifying exam is organized by NECO (National Examination Council) and their result will be final and not subject to appeal from any correspondence.
- Students are required to come on time as latecomers will not be allowed to write the examination
- Students are to come with HB Pencil, Eraser, Ruler and Statistical Table. Calculators will not be allowed.
- Misconduct of student can lead to instant disqualification
- Only qualified students will be contacted for the second round of the competition.

How I wish we always have reasonable numbers of sponsors for most of the secondary school competitions. This would have encourage students in many ways.
