115 Students Receive Free Dangote Scholarship
At a time when snakes and monkeys are busy swallowing money, Dangote Cement PLC has announced a multi-million naira educational scholarship award for 115 students.


This was made known in an annual event organized by Dangote Plc, Ibese plant. in Ogun State.

Speaking at the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries at the event, Acting Plant Director of Dangote Cement, Ibese, Mr. Louis Raj, revealed that the management decided to increase the number of beneficiaries from 80 in the previous year to 115 so that more young ones in the area could benefit.

Disclosing more details about the scholarship, Mr. Joseph Alabi, the General Manager, said that the scholarship award covered 115 students who are of Yewa origin and studying various course across several higher institutions in Nigeria.

Mr. Alabi also announced a list of the candidates from the 15 host communities who have been selected to attend the popular Dangote Academy for training in various arts and vocations pointing out that the training will equip them with all that they need in order to start and build their own business wherever they chose to.

The Olu of Imasayi, Oba Gbadebo Oni, expressed sincere happiness for the scholarship programme instituted by the Dangote Group saying that it offered a big relief to parents who struggle so hard in order to pay their children's school fees.

Speaking further, the monarch promised that his people will be forever grateful to the Dangote group and will continue to give peace a chance in their community.

The scholarship is a part of a programme started by the Dangote group, in a bid to make life more meaningful to all members of the host community. Projects under this programme are usually tailored to the needs of the respective communities where the company operates. Road and drainage construction, provision of electricity transformers fall under these projects.

Dangote Cement Plc, Gboko factory, Benue State had also given out N20m worth in scholarships to indigent students from the Mbayion community which hosts the company's facility.
