How Examination Insurance Agencies Killed Education In Nigeria

Examination insurance agencies killing education
One of the greatest plagues education in Nigeria is currently having to battle with is examination malpractice.

Examination insurance agencies are at the heart of this ugly menace and have to a large extent taken the sting off the quality of basic education provided in Nigeria.

What are examination insurance agencies?

These are organizations (usually schools) who promise students excellent result in an examination with little or no effort from the student.

They demand huge sums of money in exchange for providing answers to examination questions while the only work students are expected to do is to copy these answers into their examination booklet.

Examination insurance agencies viz 'Miracle Centres' are in every nook and cranny of Nigerian states and are annually manipulating external examinations such as WAEC, Jamb CBT, WASSCE, BECE and even First School Leaving Exams For Primary school students.

Examination insurance agencies employ every form of cheating just to ensure that their clients who they now offer a money back guarantee secure the best results.
Even at the higher institutions of learning in the country, lecturers have gradually turned into examination insurance agents and would give unmerited results to students who pay them either in cash or kind.

How Examination Insurance Agencies Killed Education In Nigeria

1.Promoting Examination Malpractice

While examination bodies are setting high standards for examinations, these agencies make students believe that they can never make excellent results without assistance.

They use advanced technology for all the wrong reasons and provide students with printed or handwritten examination answers even before the exam invigilator or supervisor arrives at the venue for the examination.

2.Extortion of Money

In exchange for excellent results, huge sums of money are extorted from parents and students.

These examination insurance agencies are the primary reason why education is very expensive especially in southeastern Nigeria.

Money collected from parents are used to pay off examination supervisors and make sure malpractice runs smoothly.

3.Promoting Laziness

Only a small number of students would go the hard way - studying when they can pay for the results they desire to have.

It was only a few years ago that students had to spend hours in the library or their personal study table to prepare for exams. This culture is gradually dying off and could become a real memory of the past as these agencies grow from strength to strength.

4. Obscuring The Purpose of Examinations

Examinations are used to get a clearer assessment of a student's knowledge and abilities, a purpose which can never be achieved if students receive assistance while writing.

Excellent results end up in the hands of those who cannot defend it.

Examination results are fast losing its value and represent the reason why certificates attained in Nigeria are written off by employers of labor in other countries.

A Simple Guide To Jamb CBT

5.Hampering The Future of The Next Generation

Quality education in the near future could become farfetched as the number of students with unmerited certificate continues to increase.

About two third of primary school teachers in Kaduna State failed to score up to 75 percent when asked to write examinations meant for primary four students.

The country is producing First Class graduates who cannot impart knowledge to students, no thanks to these agencies.

An unprecedented future clearly awaits the next generation who will find themselves learning at the foot of incompetent teachers and this clearly does not bode well for the country.

What is the way forward?

1.Blacklisting Examination Insurance Agencies

A huge number of these agencies are still accredited examination centers and will continue to thrive if they are not blacklisted.

Jamb In 2017 promptly blacklisted 72 centers for gross examination misconduct and technical deficiencies. Similar effort and time must be invested by other examinations bodies if we are to win the war against examination malpractice in Nigeria.

Strict supervision of exams and heavy sanctions must be placed on defaulters.

2.Rewarding Excellence

Albeit the whack, a number of students are still making excellent results without patronizing these agencies.

Such sincere effort must be rewarded with scholarships awards.

This will promote the culture of studying to pass exams and create an added incentive for students to be at their best academically.

Rounding Up

There is a way to restore educational standards in Nigeria and that is doing away with these examination insurance agencies.

Activities to engage in after the exams
It's finally over! You've dropped the last ink on the exam paper and feel as free as a bird.

A huge burden had just been lifted off your neck and it's that moment where you have to think less about school work.

It's simply a time off!

Are you clueless about what activities to engage in after the exams, so you do not get bored and enjoy a fun-filled holiday?

Regardless of how you define fun, the outlined activities will create a great after exam experience

1.Going On A Vacation

Yeah! It's time travel out and get to see life in a different city or neighborhood.

Spending a few days or weeks away at a friend's or relative's home is an ideal way to step your foot off the gas and enjoy some wonderful time.

If you live in a densely populated area then you will find it a more exciting experience visiting a quieter place perhaps with a lot of nature thrills.
Get some fresh air!

2.Catch Up On TV Shows / Game Consoles / Social Media

We give up our favorite TV shows, social media profiles, and video games in a bid to devote maximal time to prepare for and ace our exams.

Now they are over, it's time to watch those missed episodes, catch up with activities that took place while you were offline and beat your friends on the game screen.

3.Learning A New Skill

In this modern era, you need skills to survive or at least make a few bucks, therefore, learning a new skill is a self-improving activity to engage in after the exams.

Find a skill you're passionate about and you'll obviously get better at it before it's time to go back to school.

Want a few suggestions?

  • Learn to play a musical instrument
  • Learn to make simple dresses
  • Practice public speaking
  • Learn to paint or draw

4.Write Your Book

You've got some pretty cool ideas up there that could make a great book, so it's time to put them down and make a positive impact in someone's life.

Since you're out of school, for the time being, you have a rare chance to devote a lot of time and thinking to create the perfect piece. Grab this opportunity!

Eno Sam's writing course can help you write like a pro!

5.Read A Book

If reading is your hobby, then this gets the top spot on your wish list of activities to engage in after the exams.

Reading is the gateway to knowledge so it's time to get some inspiration from a book or at least get entertained by some fictional stories.

6.Sleep

Yes, you need to catch up on lost sleep during the exams and refresh your mind and soul ahead of the new session.

So sleep, sleep, sleep! Alarm clocks are resting and you should join them.

7.Assist Your Parents

You obviously want your school fee settled as soon as you get back to school, so this is a nice trick to get this done.
You'll get experience about their work and help them make a few extra bucks for your fees.

We know you are spoilt for choice now or may have other planned activities to engage in after the exams. Let's get your thoughts in the comments section.

How To Study and Understand All School Subjects In A Few Weeks, So You Can Ace Your Exams

How To Study and Understand All School Subjects In A Few Weeks

Even the best student in class would at one time or the other face the daunting task of preparing for an end of the term examination in a few weeks or days.

Procrastination, an overload of school work or a mix with the wrong type of students are common reasons why you may find yourself under this kind of pressure.

Well, we got you covered, as we will in this post consider simple steps to study and understand each topic in a few weeks so you can cooly ace your exams.

Ready?

STEP 1- MEET YOUR TEACHERS

Building a close rapport with teachers before now could ultimately serve a huge advantage.
Since, some subject teachers are generous enough to give you an area of study and some hints for their exam, this first step in preparing for your exams could lighten your burden.
You get to know on which topics to concentrate your study efforts.

STEP 2 - CREATE A DETAILED STUDY SCHEDULE

This quest would be further helped if you have access to the examination timetable. This way, subjects which come later would be given a secondary position on your study schedule while the imminent ones are made priority.

A detailed study schedule must also state the allotted time for the study of each subject.
Only take in a handful of information each time you study and avoid the mistake of attempting to grab all at once. This mistake has been earmarked as one of the reasons why students easily forget after studying.

More so, with only a few weeks left, your study schedule must seamlessly comprise all the subjects you wish to prepare for and optimally work hand in hand with your study plan.

A Weekly Planner
( A weekly study planner template)

STEP 3- CREATE A STUDY PLAN

A study plan is a further breakdown of the study schedulewhich includes a list of every single topic that cuts across every single subject you have to prepare for.
It is breakdown of the bigger work into chunks which makes it easier for you to track your progress while you remain on track.

Test your abilities with some review questions at the end of each study session.

STEP 4 - PRIORITIZE YOUR STUDY TIME

Procrastination got you here, therefore, you should be on the look out for possible time snatchers. Do not skip your study period for any avoidable reason.

Your goal – to ace your exams -  wouldn’t be met if you keep allowing other activities to encroach.

STEP 5 - STUDY UNDER THE BEST CONDITIONS

Studying must be done in a quiet environment, free from noise and every other distractions.
This way, you can concentrate and retain more information after studying.

Studying yields brilliant result when you the body has been adequately rested and not under stress, or you would doze off on the study table. It is recommended that you get enough sleep before your study, that way, sleep becomes the last thing your body needs.

STEP 6 - STAY POSITIVE

While early preparation would have been the better option, preparing with little time left on the clock isn’t a really bad idea if you can stick with the suggestions we have made above.

You still stand a great chance of acing your exams, so stay positive and work as much as you can to do that.

Conclusion

To study and understand all school subjects in a few weeks, so you can ace your exams would require a whole lot of effort. But we believe it is attainable if you put in the required effort.

We wish you success!

Get to work now!

What You Must Do Now To Get Ready For The Exams

Prepare exams are coming
Reminder!
Prepare! Exams are coming.

It's already passed halfway through the term and what seemed like it was just starting is gradually reaching a climax.

How grand the climax turns out , lies on your heeding this notice and getting ready for the end of the term assessment which is lurking around the corner.

Think less about the holidays now. Give more thought to how to achieve the best grades from your exams.

What You Must Do Now To Get Ready For The Exams

1.Create A Study Schedule

Getting back to every topic across each subject you have studied in school this term would represent a big challenge if you do not employ a schedule.

In your schedule, specify the study time and subject/topic to be considered.
Difficult or complex subjects must be given priority while less complex follow.

Do your best to stick to your schedule, then you can avoid rush studying during the examination period.

2.Get A Study Partner

A close friend or classmate who would be sitting for the same examination could be the perfect partner.

If you have a study team, then spread the reminder already. Everyone should get to work.

The earlier you start bracing yourself up for what is ahead, the more prepared you are to handle it.

3. Practice Possible Questions

To make studying specific and more productive , you could create a list of likely questions and practice them.

In some other cases, reviewing previous versions of a teacher's examination questions has given students insight on what to expect in an examination.

4.Stay Properly Motivated

The fact you didn't get a pass or good grade in previous exams should not weaken your resolve to give your best this time.

You can put in a super performance if you go all out this time. You can overcome a poor grade. Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

5.Study Examination Ethics

Examination ethics refer to the rules guiding the conduct of students participating in an exam.

When you know and abide by the examination ethics, you can play by the rules and stay out of trouble.

Conclusion

The short cut to passing with flying colors in an examination is hinged on the principles of early and thoroughly preparation.

We believe you got this notice on time and should get to work right now.

Act now and get ready for the exams!

Innovative Future wishes you success!

These Eight (8) Ethics Will Make You Pass Any Examination

A Student writing exam properly
He did it again! Even after he had promised himself never to do it again.
He could already tell what poor grades he would be making. He never bargained for this, but just like every other time, he just manages to screw up.

Who knows that feeling when you walk out of the exam room or hall knowing you've totally messed up? How Often Do You Experience This?

With exams lurking around the corner, you really should be giving much thought to how prepared you are for the final segment of this academic term?

For some students, preparation for exams started sometime after school resumption and we already can say they have a better shot at making the best grades at the end of the term.

If you're just starting to prepare , then you're still a long way off. We wish you success anyway!

The eight tips that follow can help you pass any examination if you have studied as much as you should.

Are you ready? Let's go!

Eight Basic Examination Ethics

1. Organise Yourself Before Exams

Just as studying is important to passing an exam, self coordination prior to exams gives you an edge.
Get rid of any activity that will get you distracted when the exam starts. If possible, spend the final minutes before exam alone in a quiet place. This gets you ready for what is coming up.
Use this period to reflect on questions you're anticipating from the subject teacher.

2.Build Confidence

Dwelling on thoughts of how you've scaled through even more difficult exams in the past.
Muttering some confidence boosting words such as 'I can do this' has also proven to be a huge upliftment to some students.

3.Fill In Your Details

Ever heard the saying that 'first impression matters'.It sure applies to exams.
Your personal details is what the examiner sees first before proceeding to your actual write-up.

You, therefore have failed the preliminary test if you fail to meticulously fill in your personal details, upon receiving your answers script.
Make it your first exam activity or you might forget to do it at the end of the day.
You sure know what that means!

4.Read Through Instructions

The instruction section tells you what the examiner expects from you, while doing anything contrary to this, means you're already on the wrong side of the equation.
If the examiner decides to give their instructions orally, then you must pay close attention to what is being said.

5.Go One At A Time

Since you may not have the answer to all the exam questions, going gradually gives you some speed and confidence as well.

For a start, provide full answers to the questions you are super sure about. Then the ones you are sure about. You can then spend the remaining time on those that require critical thinking.
For exams, slow and steady wins the race.

6.Avoid Distractions

There is no guarantee that there will be no distractions in the exam room or hall, though it is usually a very quite place.
Do not be swayed by side talks or any disturbances. You could easily get lost with your work if you allow this.
Also be alert to wave away any iota of thought not related to the task at hand (exam),which may come to mind.

7.Avoid Spelling and Grammatical Errors

Teachers do not feel at ease assessing a script with so many spelling or writing errors. This doesn't bode well for you as a student if you make incomplete sentences or words perhaps because you are writing hurriedly.

8.Proof Read Your Work

At this point, you go through every single alphabet, word, sentence and lines you've written down.
Make corrections where necessary and if time permits, continue to review.

Conclusion

These basic exam ethics are proven to guarantee the best grades if you get mastery over them.
You sure can!

Now You're Good To Go.

Do you easily forget after studying
